Educational & Informative Website Design for Virginia Living Museum

Feb 25, 2009 - The Virginia Living Museum, dedicated to exploring Virginia’s wildlife and ecosystem, recently partnered with Ciniva Systems to produce a new public website that would present the museum as an exciting and informational Hampton Roads attraction. Ciniva, a premiere web design firm in Virginia, was called upon to lead the project because of their successful track record with other Virginia educational and governmental institutions as well as their ability to produce the type of custom-designed site that would give the museum the functionality it needed to operate on the web.

The Virginia Living Museum (VLM), presenting visitors with the opportunity to learn about the ecosystems of Virginia, was looking to expand their web presence and use the new website to rebrand the museum in order to attract more visitors and private donations. Ciniva delivered a design that would accomplish VLM’s goals, while providing them with the opportunity to modify the site as they see fit through Ciniva’s proprietary content management system (CMS).

VLM’s new site, located at http://www.thevlm.org/, features an attractive layout and intuitive navigation to provide visitors with an informative and productive user experience. Using custom-designed form building software, the site is able to accept monetary donations and register visitors for various classes and seminars that VLM holds. As a non-profit organization, the ability for guests to donate quickly and effectively to the fund of their choice was a top priority, and Ciniva’s tailored web design made this possible.

“The registration software we implemented into the Virginia Living Museum site is extremely advanced,” touts Ciniva’s President and CEO Steve Van Leeuwen. “By integrating the registration and donation system into the content-management system, VLM is able to adapt the forms at will to include new charities, educational seminars, or any other need they may have.”

The site features one of Ciniva’s versatile content management systems, allowing the Virginia Living Museum to update the site easily and without timely support requests. Along with the CMS, the site features web optimized content and design, allowing VLM to rank better in search engines, especially for keywords targeting their core audience. Launched in early February, 2009, thevlm.org is serving as a resource for this audience interested in Virginia’s beautiful ecology.
