Nearly 400 years ago, on April 26th, 1607, the first permanent English colony known as Jamestown arrived on the ship the Godspeed in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Three days later on April 29th, Robert Hunt (1568-1608), a clergyman of the Church of England who was chaplain of the expedition lifted his voice in public thanksgiving and alongside the settlers planted a cross at Cape Henry dedicating the land to God.
This cross represents the cross upon which Jesus, our Lord was crucified. These early settlers prayed that the Gospel would go around the world from this land newly dedicated to God. This spiritual act makes America only one of two nations that has been dedicated to God at her inception - Israel and the United States!
On Saturday, April 28th and Sunday, April 29th 2007, we are calling on all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ to join us on the shore of Virginia Beach to rededicate our nation to God through prayer.
