Ciniva Ecommerce Project Highlights Unique Collaboration – and Revenue Stream

As the recent financial woes and near government shutdown taught us, taught us, there’s little that will drive people to blows faster than a fight over money.  With budgets stretched thin, departments like the Virginia Beach Sherriff’s Office had to do a little clever thinking about generating some revenue. Families could purchase items like food and sundries, and the Sherriff’s Office would arrange to have them dispensed to the inmate.

The project came with some unique challenges.  Hooking into a private and secure database, creating unique log in arrangements for families, expeditious order processing to avoid food spoilage and of course, the ultimate challenge – produce a beautiful, fast, fully functioning, feature rich e-commerce platform on a shoestring budget and get it in under deadline.

The VBSO Care Mart has received attention from the public and was recently featured in The Virginian-Pilot.
